PLANT SOURCES

When looking for plants for properties on Mt. Lemmon between 7-9,000 feet, consider the native plants that already are adapted to grow in that area.  A full listing is available here.

The following companies have plants and seeds for species that are indigenous to Mt. Lemmon.  They are all aware of our desire to “Plant Native” so that we ensure the success of our restoration and revegetation efforts.  Since it is too hot in Tucson to grow most of our higher elevation trees, Flagstaff has been our best source for larger trees.  But Desert Survivors in Tucson has many of the understory plants and are very eager to work with us on propagating more.

For a complete listing of plants that are native to the mountain (and hence, will have the best chances to survive and flourish) we have compiled a database of plants that grow from 6000 to 9000 feet on Mt. Lemmon (Mt. Lemmon Plant List) - Note: you need to have high speed access to see this file.

INVASIVES:  These are plants to avoid in order to keep our unique Sky Island “unique” and prevent non-native species from becoming a problem and overrunning the plants that we cherish.
